
Alice Sykes
BSc, MSc, ISSN, RNut, PhD
Alice is a Nutritional Consultant and Exercise Physiologist. She graduated from Oxford Brooks University with a 1st Class Honours in Biochemistry and Nutrition, before going on to do a Masters programme at Brunel University - graduating with a Distinction in High Performance Physiology. Alice is currently completing her PhD in Fuel Utilisation and Dietary Manipulation of Sedentary Adults.
In 2003 she jointly set up a company called Food For Performance to help anyone from the elite athletes to the general public with their diet and exercise programmes. She has published over 10 papers in prestigious nutrition and physiology journals both in the U.K and the U.S. Her articles have also appeared in health and fitness magazines, newspapers and the FA's Insight Magazine. She recently won an award at the International Sports Nutrition Conference, in New Orleans, for her research on muscle glycogen replacement with carbohydrate drinks.
Alice is also a fully accredited physiologist through the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science. She is regularly a speaker at conference and lectures to undergraduate students at the University of Greenwich. She has had the great opportunity to work at both the Olympic Medical Institute, in Harrow, and at Chelsea Football Club, Surrey, as a nutritional advisor.
Alice worked full-time as the only senior nutritional consultant for The Food Doctor for 3 years, using an integrative approach to health and nutrition by bringing the recent research in medical science and her clinical expertise together.
She has now set up her own company 'Health Solutions' and she practices from two private London Medical Centres working alongside top medical health experts.
Alice also acts as health consultant in large corporations such as Channel 4 and KPMG. She is also a regular contributor to magazines and newspaper articles.
Alice specialises in hormonal health, eating disorders, sports nutrition, stress management, digestive disorders, weight loss and children's health.
Alice has appeared as an expert on a number of programmes and has recently enjoyed being the main expert on BBC3's radio and television production ‘Fat Men Can't Hunt' which was such a success that Alice is currently out in Borneo filming ‘Fat Teens Can't Hunt'.
