Danny Robins

Danny Robins

Danny Robins is a presenter, comedian, writer and journalist.

He made his TV presenting debut fronting the controversial and much talked about ‘Let's Make A Baby for BBC 3's ‘Mischief' season - where he fooled the television industry by creating a fake reality show that promised to conceive the world's first Reality TV baby.

Since then, he has appeared on various TV programmes including BBC 2's The Culture Show, for whom he watched all Shakespeare's plays in one month and interviewed Morrissey, BBC 3's The Bullsh*t Detective, where he exposed fake psychics and crystal healers, and a second ‘Mischief' film, The Great Sperm Crisis, for which Danny toured the UK attempting to convince men to become sperm donors. Amazingly, he did single handedly raise the number of donors.

For the 2010 General Election, Danny fronted a weekly series of films for BBC 2's Newsnight called Party Anthems where he came up with an ‘election theme song' for each of the three main parties with the help of politicians and some well known bands.

Danny has had his own series on Radio 1 and currently does a weekly slot on Lauren Laverne's hit 6Music show, giving an ‘Indie Travel Guide' to cities around the world. He is also a regular on Radio 4, appearing on shows such as Front Row, Saturday Review and Jon Ronson On, presenting documentaries and hosting his own show Danny Robins Music Therapy. As a comedy writer/performer he was nominated for a Sony Radio Award for the critically acclaimed The Museum of Everything.

Danny has travelled widely and is presenter of the Essential series on Travel Channel. He also writes a monthly column for Ryanair's inflight magazine.

As a BAFTA and RTS award winning comedy writer, Danny's work has been broadcast all over the world and he has worked with such comedy greats as Ronnie Barker, Armando Iannucci and Basil Brush.

Danny also performs live. He had great success at the Edinburgh festival with his DJ Danny shows which he has subsequently performed across the country and internationally. His last live show was Dannyfest - a one man Glastonbury style festival.

Danny is passionate about music, the arts, football and travel. In the line of duty, he has hung out with crazy gun-toting Vietnam vets, gone ghost-hunting and UFO spotting, trained to be a cowboy, and come second in the UK Air Guitar Championship Final (he was cheated). He also bizarrely once had a Number 11 chart hit, but that's a long story - ask him about it when you see him.

Danny has also contributed to two BBC World Service programmes about the Edinburgh Festival.
