
John Weir
John is a qualified architect and has been involved in the design, construction, marketing and sales of new homes for over 25 years. He has recently been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board of the West Northants Urban Development Corporation. John has enjoyed presenting roles such as Channel 4’s ‘Dream Home’ with Carol Vorderman, and ‘Britain’s Best Home’ with Sarah Beeny.
John is a past senior vice president of the House Builders Federation and a regular speaker at national housing industry events. He has also delivered speeches at the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Town and Country Planning Association, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and Local authorities on subjects ranging from ‘Chaos’ to the ‘Design and Marketing of Sustainable Communities’.
He has recently been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board of The West Northants Urban Development Corporation, which is responsible, over the next 10 years, for the delivery of the towns of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester as world-class leaders of sustainable development.
In 1998 John made a move into television presenting working with Carol Vorderman on ‘Dream House’, a 6-part series designing and constructing the ‘house of the future’ embracing all the then latest technical and green issues. John has since gone on to co-present with Sarah Beeny and Anna Raeburn.
