Mona Yousefi

Mona Yousefi

Mona Yousefi is a sharp, animated and witty young girl with a vast array of creative talents, widely admired by peers and audiences alike.

Mona's story is unusual.  She started work in a criminal defence solicitors, attending criminal cases at crown courts and visiting clients in prisons, whilst spending her weekends creating and filming a comedy show featuring all her quirky and eccentric friends.   After holding a screening for her show, the audience convinced her to get her show on TV.  With no contacts in the TV world she then decided to put a trailer of her show in a multi-coloured box tied together with a helium balloon and take it straight to Channel 4.  As she did not have a meeting she was politely asked to leave.  Determined, she then found the most unusual way to get her box upstairs to be seen by the right people... and the rest after that is history.

In 2006, she was commissioned by Channel 4 to create an episode of this show ‘Mayhem Makers', which she not only wrote but which she also directed and produced. It aired as part of the E4 Funny Cuts Strand in 2007 and exhibited Mona's multitude of artistic and creative talent. She was also the winner of the BBC's Dragon's Den Comedy and Entertainment pitch at the Media Guardian Edinburgh International TV Festival, which resulted in a development deal from MTV.

Mona has a proven track record in production, and has lead development teams working across the creation of cross platform shows and ideas for Channel 4, Five, BBC and Bebo.

The London-born Mona has now honed her craft in comedy by tapping into her natural appreciation for comedy, and also drawing inspiration from her Iranian background, which has played a pivotal role in the creation of her new character ‘Tallah' (which she plays) in her new show ‘Bizzness Breaker'.

She is also conversant in three languages; French, German and Farsi, and equally, has a masters degree LLM in Entertainment Law.  Mona will soon be furthering her skills when she attends the highly-rated Phillippe Gaulier School in Paris.
