Richard Reynolds

Richard Reynolds

When late one night Richard started illicitly cultivating the neglected public flowerbeds below his high-rise home in London he did so for the love of gardening. At 11 years old he was head gardener at school in Exeter but now his life long enthusiasm has led him to pursue his passion as a guerrilla gardener.

Richard is an advertising account planner by trade and Oxford geographer by qualification. He created GuerrillaGardening.org in 2004 and wrote "On Guerrilla Gardening", published by Bloomsbury in May 2008. Richard's activities have brought him to the attention of the media (and occasionally the police) and his polite but provocative perspective on gardening and the world around us has become increasingly popular. The New York Times described him as a "subculture celebrity and public intellectual".

Richard has been a guest across UK national radio and television including: BBC1 The One Show, BBC1 Breakfast, BBC Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Show Specials, ITV1 This Morning, Channel 4 Richard & Judy, Sky 1 Noel's HQ, BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine and BBC Radio 3 Night Waves. He has also lectured on the subject to architectural, horticultural and literary audiences in Austria, France, Russia and across the UK and contributed to festivals and journals in Canada and The Netherlands.
