Leanne trained as a professional editor before moving into film and television. Her self-penned debut feature PILI, is a ground-breaking drama set in rural Tanzania starring a cast of non-actors, 65% of whom are HIV positive. It premiered at the Dinard British Film Festival where it won both the Audience Award for Best Film and a Special Mention from the jury for the Screenplay.
Leanne is in development with Parkville Pictures (THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST) and Oscar-nominated James Schamus’s Symbolic Exchange (A PRAYER BEFORE DAWN) with THE WARNING. Based on her original idea, the film is set during the height of the Blitz and follows a woman as she loses her niece in the black-out.
Leanne’s debut documentary feature KEEP ON RUNNING, about Sierra Leone’s marathon champions, is four years in the making and will be completed in 2018.
Leanne has been named one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow 2017.
