Orlando von Einsiedel is a British documentary and drama director.
2014 saw the completion of Orlando’s debut feature length documentary, ‘Virunga’, executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, and its global release as a Netflix Original Production. The film won over 75 International awards including a Primetime Emmy, a Peabody, a Grierson and a duPont-Columbia Award for outstanding journalism and was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA.
Orlando’s latest documentary, ‘The White Helmets’, about volunteer Syrian rescue workers, was released globally in 2016 as a Netflix Original production and has also recently been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Short category.
Orlando has directed award-winning films, spanning Africa, Asia, the Americas and the Arctic, and covering all manner of stories from a skateboard school in Afghanistan through to the tracking and arrest of pirates in West Africa. He has been particularly lauded for his ability to draw out intimate personal stories and combine them with an eye for powerful visual aesthetics.
He has been nominated for two Academy Awards®, a BAFTA, a Director’s Guild of America Award, a Producer’s Guild of America Award, an Independent Film Spirt Award, a Royal Television Society Award and his films have won over 100 other international film awards to date.
His brand focused work includes projects for some of the world’s largest brands (including Sony, Diesel, Canon and Nike), his most recent being a 9-part documentary series for Google produced by JJ Abrams.
