David Allain is a Writer and Director who started out by making music videos for London grime artists and pop acts. ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME?’ (a short film written and directed by David) premiered at Raindance and won Best Comedy at both the ScreenTest and Limelight Awards.
David is passionate about working with charities: he has created artwork for charity auctions for SHELTER (tackling homelessness), directed films for SHIFT.MS (on managing multiple sclerosis) and CALM (encouraging mental health awareness). He has also worked extensively in Africa with GIRL EFFECT (promoting gender equality), where he led teams of scriptwriters to create and write radio dramas for teenagers in each Rwanda and Malawi.
David has a Masters in Screenwriting from Royal Holloway University (graduated 2012). Projects in development include a feature film sci-fi thriller, and a neo-noir TV series. He creates work that strikes a balance between commercial appeal and emotive storytelling.
