Maimuna Memon is a Lancashire born actor, writer, and songwriter.
She is currently working on her first television development, ‘Third Culture Kid’, with Merman, which is a semi-autobiographical story stemming from her real life experiences as a mixed heritage Muslim woman.
She is currently developing a new semi-autobiographical folk musical ‘Sparrow Girl’ that has been commissioned by the Bush Theatre, Bolton Octagon and Wildcard Theatre, exploring the themes of mixed heritage, religion and choice, due to open in 2022. She has written music and lyrics for shows at The Almeida, The National & Stratford East, and for BBC Radio 3. She is also in the middle of recording her debut EP.
Maimuna is Co-Founder and Resident Composer of Wildcard Theatre. Their flagship show ‘Electrolyte’, for which she wrote the music and lyrics, had two sell outs runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018 and 2019, and was the recipient of the Scotsman Mental Health award. The show is due to open in London and New York next year.
