Anne Reid

Anne Reid trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and has enjoyed a distinguished career across television, film, and theatre.
She recently starred in the critically acclaimed BBC One drama The Sixth Commandment, earning a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actress. She is also widely known for her performance as ‘Celia’ in BBC’s Last Tango in Halifax, a role she played across four series and for which she received a BAFTA TV nomination for Best Leading Actress. Earlier in her career, Anne became a household name through her role in Doctor Who, establishing her as one of Britain’s most enduring television talents.

In film, Anne gave a powerful performance opposite Daniel Craig in Roger Michell’s The Mother (2003), which earned her the London Critics’ Circle Award for British Actress of the Year, along with Best Actress nominations from BAFTA, BIFA, and the European Film Awards.

On stage, she was recently seen performing in OEDIPUS on Broadway, opposite Mark Strong and Lesley Manville. Anne has also continued to impress with recent standout performances, including Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison at the Menier Chocolate Factory, and portraying Queen Elizabeth II in By Royal Appointment. She also starred in A Woman of No Importance at the Vaudeville Theatre.
