Stroma Cairns

Director

Represented by:

Alex Rusher
Stroma won a BAFTA for her directing on MOOD (Nicôle Lecky’s TV show based on her Royal Court play) for BBC Three. As described by TIME magazine – “The penultimate episode, a standalone psychological thriller set amid a harrowing “girls trip”, is as masterly an hour of TV as I’ve seen this year“. Her BBC Film debut, THE SON AND THE SEA was part of the 2025 Cannes Great 8 Showcase and premiered at TIFF before going on to San Sebastian and London Film Festival. The film is very personal to her – a story of young men growing up without father figures and discovering their own strengths. She directed a 4Stories and her doc short SAUNA was one of the films commissioned under the Uncertain Kingdom anthology series. Her short IF YOU KNEW was produced by Sorcha Bacon (Wren Boys) and premiered at LFF.
