Ru Parker-Harbord (They/Them) is a writer and director based in London. In 2017, they wrote and directed short film ‘Missed Conceptions’ based on the true story of their lesbian parent’s experience trying to have a baby in 1994 Britain. The short film was optioned and developed by Working Title Productions in 2019 as a 8×30 Comedy-Drama series. They have since completed the work on the treatment and Pilot script.
They have a strong focus on telling queer stories and have been developing another short film as the Writer and Director. ’Eyeliner’ is set in an all girls school during a school disco in 2009 and centres on a young girl’s experience navigating identity in that environment. Ru hopes to develop this story into a feature film, further delving into the world they grew up in.
Last year, Ru developed and wrote a play ‘Too Hot, Too Cold, Just Right’ about someone who learns throughout their life that they are Asexual, what that means and how to accept their reality. They hope to bring this show to a wider audience after great responses to the work in progress performance at Camden People’s Theatre.
