Sarah Bassiuoni is the Creator and Co-Executive Producer of Critical Incident for
Matchbox Pictures, All3 Media and Stan. The Series premiered in Australia in August 2024 and has sold to Hulu in the USA, ITV in the UK and Canal+ where it has just premiered. Sarah is a television writer, producer and the daughter of an Egyptian Muslim and Irish Catholic who grew up in Saudi Arabia, the USA and Australia.
Sarah’s writing credits include season 2 of The Secret She Keeps (Lingo Pictures for
Paramount+ and BBC), Ladies in Black (Bunya Productions for ABC) and House of
Gods (Matchbox Pictures for ABC). Currently, Sarah has a series in development with Goalpost Pictures and is writing on multiple series projects with various decorated production companies. After earning her first writing broadcast credit for additional writing in On the Ropes, an SBS/Lingo Pictures production in 2018, Sarah went on to be a script editor and write an episode of The Heights for Matchbox Pictures for ABC and BBC. In 2018, she was selected for Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer Program and in 2019 for the Phillip Parson’s Fellowship at Belvoir Street Theatre. She has worked as a script assessor for Screen Australia was recently selected for the Creators Program by the
Australian Writers Guild and Screen Australia.
As a former human rights and litigation lawyer for a leading civil liberties organisation and a protest monitor for Amnesty International and Human Rights Defenders, Sarah brings extensive management experience to her work as a showrunner and executive producer. In addition to her Masters, Sarah holds degrees in International Relations and Law from the University of Western Sydney and Graduate Certificates in screenwriting and directing from AFTRS. Sarah has also completed the Professional Writing for Television Program at UCLA. Sarah is based in Sydney but works throughout Australia and internationally. She holds Australian, Irish and Egyptian passports.
