Jordon Scott Kennedy is a working-class, award winning writer and director working across film and television. His work is raw, personal and grounded in Northern realism, infused with humour, surrealism and hope
His debut feature Suicide Kelly, made on a £10,000 micro-budget, won Best Picture and Best Director at the BAFTA-accredited British Urban Film Festival. His Channel 4 short Youthless was praised by Jimmy McGovern.
Jordon’s latest film Rocket Fuel – winner of Bradford 2025’s Forge Fund and the Grand Prize from Slick Films and Bolton Film Festival – premiered on BBC Three in May 2025, reached 20 million views online and screened at Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying festivals including HollyShorts and Leeds International Film Festival. His play Blood’s Thicker, commissioned to mark the Knife Angel’s arrival in Bradford – described by Bradford Council as its most successful youth-engagement project and credited with increasing weapon hand-ins.
His next short, Dynamite Dealer is backed by the BFI. Jordon is working with Fable Pictures, Tiger Aspect, BBC Studios and Fully Focused on original ideas. He is developing feature ideas with Nickie Sault. Jordon is creative lead at The Unit, an open-access creative hub funded by C4, Bradford Coundil and supported by Screen Yorkshire.
