Imran Mahmood is a London-based screenwriter, novelist and barrister whose work combines gripping storytelling with psychologically complex crime drama. With over three decades of experience as a criminal defence barrister, his writing is distinguished by its authenticity, natural sense of drama and its bone-deep understanding of the justice system.
His debut novel, You Don’t Know Me was a critically acclaimed bestseller translated into multiple languages and listed for a number of key literary prizes and and picked as BBC Radio 2 Book Club choice. It was subsequently adapted by Tom Edge into a major 4-part BBC One and worldwide Netflix drama. The lead actor Samuel Adewunmi was shortlisted for the BAFTA for best actor.

Imran regularly consults as a legal expert on shows that have a court-room or legal dimension.
