Meg Campbell is an award-winning film and television director who graduated from the National Film and Television School with an MA in Directing Fiction. Meg has recently directed four episodes of Emmerdale for ITV. She has also directed three half-hour episodes of The Dumping Ground for CBBC, one of which was nominated for a Royal Television Society NE award for Best Drama, and four half-hour episodes of the second series of The Beaker Girls (both part of BBC Kids & Family’s Tracy Beaker franchise), starring Dani Harmer. Other directorial projects include Unfair, a comedy pilot for Channel 4 starring Sharron Small and Kat Ronney, and four thirty-minute episodes of the sketch show Stevens & McCarthy for BBC One Scotland, which was nominated for a Royal Television Society Scotland award for Best Comedy. She is also a series regular director on the BBC One continuing drama River City, where she has completed nine one-hour episodes and ten half-hour episodes.
Her short film Present, starring acclaimed British actress Sarah Parish, premiered on opening night at Rhode Island International Film Festival where Meg was awarded the prize for Best Director. Present then screened at numerous film festivals, including Encounters where it won the NAHEMI award for Best Short Film. Present also screened at 16 Odeon cinemas as part of the ‘Best Short Films of the Year’ competition and was longlisted for BAFTA’s Best Short Film. Other projects include Rock, starring Emmy award-winning actress Michelle Collins; Maisie, starring Olivier award-winning actress Jill Halfpenny; and Bluebird, starring The Witcher’s Freya Allan, which premiered in competition at London Short Film Festival. Her feature film The White Stork was developed with Creative England, the BFI, and BBC Films as part of their emerging talent strand, iFeatures.
Meg has also directed a 45-second commercial for ODEON’s social media campaign and a commercial for Centrepoint as part of the Kodak Commercials Competition, where she was awarded first prize and later nominated for a Royal Television Society Award. She is currently directing four more episodes of the BBC drama River City. Meg is mentored by Nicola Shindler and is represented by Jack Thomas at Independent Talent.
