Mo Ali

Mo started out as an award winning music video director, working with some of the most innovative artists in the UK’s urban music scene, including Skepta, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk and Lethal B. Mo is also a board member of British Urban Film Festival, patron of the East Side Educational Trues and mentors over 20 young London-based filmmakers.

His feature debut, the post-apocalyptic action-thriller “Shank”, was released theatrically in 2010, entering the UK Charts at number 4 and has now been released in more than 15 territories around the world. His second feature, “Montana” (2014), was a searing look at life in the underbelly of London. After appearing at the Sitges Film Festival, the most prestigious genre festival in the world, it sold to 30 territories and it went on to be nominated for Best Independent Feature at the NFAs and both Best Picture and Best Director at the Screen National Awards.Mo has recently  developed a wide range of feature films and television series including  original dramas (which he is co writing with Rob Butler) , Upton Park for Quay Street and a horror anthology for Abbotvision.

He directed episodes of COBRA series 2 and series 3 starring Robert Carlisle and Victoria Hamilton for New Pictures and Sky. He has also directed eps 5 & 6 of the hit series for Apple, HIJACK, starring Idris Elba. Most recently, Mo also directed (and co EP’d two eps) of Virdee, a BBC 1 thriller based on AA Dhand’s much loved novels and starring Staz Nair.

He is currently co-writing (with Rob Butler) a horror feature HALLOWTEEN for Vertigo Films and a tv drama WARLORD for Magic Hour/New Pics and is attached to direct both.
