Sarah Bassiuoni is the creator and Co-Executive Producer of Critical Incident, an original series set in Western Sydney (Matchbox Pictures for STAN), which has reached international audiences via Hulu (US), ITV (UK), and Canal+ (France).
Her writing credits include The Secret She Keeps Season 2 (Lingo Pictures for the BBC), House of Gods (Matchbox Pictures for the ABC), Ladies in Black (Bunya Productions for the ABC), and Season 2 of the acclaimed ABC series The Heights (Matchbox Pictures and BBC), where she also served as a trainee script editor. In addition to her television work, Sarah has written and directed short films and a web series for ABC iView.
Sarah brings a rich, global perspective to her storytelling. She is a former human rights lawyer and the daughter of an Egyptian Muslim father and Irish Catholic mother. Raised across Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Australia, she draws deeply on her diverse background in her creative work. She holds a Master of Laws with a major in International Relations, and worked extensively in human rights both in Australia and abroad before pivoting to a career in screenwriting.
A graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Sarah further honed her craft through UCLA’s Professional Program in Writing for Television and other advanced writing programs. She has collaborated with a wide range of award-winning producers and production companies as a writer, script editor, and researcher.
