Finn den Hertog is a director and theatre maker based in Glasgow. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he began his career as an actor, performing with major Scottish theatre companies and on screen before transitioning to directing. He has directed work for the National Theatre of Scotland, Young Vic, Dundee Rep and Francesca Moody Productions, among others. His work has garnered numerous awards and has been seen in theatres all over the UK, in the West End and Off-Broadway.
In 2019 he co-founded Groupwork, an award-winning theatre company specialising in visual, physical storytelling. He was an Associate Artist of National Theatre of Scotland from 2022-2025.
His production of David Ireland’s The Fifth Step premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival before transferring to the West End, starring Jack Lowden and Martin Freeman. It became the first Scottish-directed show filmed for NT Live.
Finn is also a regular guest lecturer at RCS and on the Playwriting MSc at University of Edinburgh. He lives in Glasgow with his partner and two sons.
