Ruth Husko

Ruth ‘Husko’ Huskisson is a working-class comedy writer and performer from the Black Country. A recent alumni of the BBC Radio Comedy Writers’ Bursary, she has contributed across a wide range of BBC audio comedy projects.

Her writing credits include flagship Radio 4 and BBC Sounds shows such as The News Quiz and Just A Minute, as well as Wing It, Live From The UK, Evil Animals and Evil Genius. She’s also written for Channel 4’s Late Night Lycett (Series 1 & 2), BBC Radio’s DMs Are Open and Ivo Graham’s Obsessions and worked as Script Editor on The Lively Life of Lindsey Santoro (BBC Radio 4). Currently, she’s developing her own sitcoms in a desperate bid to become the Poundland Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Ruth began her career as Twitter/X account @dank_ackroyd, posting deep dives into retro pop culture, the realities of working at Greggs and campaigning for Tesco to include a mini Prosecco in the meal deal. Since 2023 she’s amassed 25.5k followers — no one really knows how, especially since she’s the only one still using the platform.

Ruth has guested on a concerning number of podcasts, including Richard Herring’s RHLSTP, The Upshot, Scroobius Pip’s Distraction Pieces, The Glue Factory, Paddy’s Flatshare Slamdown and Your Own Personal Beatles.

She also performs DJ sets under the name Ruth Husko’s Disko at King’s Heath Comedy Festival and Machynlleth Comedy Festival, spinning ‘everything from Status Quo to Orinoco Flow’.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys Wordle, Take a Break magazine, and playing darts with the City of London Darts Association (COLDA) (yes, really).
