Chris Andrews

Chris Andrews is an award winning UK-based writer and director whose debut feature, BRING THEM DOWN, had its world premiere at Toronto in 2024. The critically acclaimed film stars Oscar nominated Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott, and is based on Chris’ Brit List featured original screenplay, produced by BAFTA winning producer Ivana Mackinnon and Mubi, sold internationally by Charades. Chris won the BIFA for Outstanding Debut and the film was BAFTA shortlisted. The film was selected for a range of international festivals, including LFF where it played in competition, and also won Best Picture at Fantastic Fest.

Chris’ previous shorts include BAFTA-longlisted FIRE, and STALKER, which premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival and won the Grand Prix International Short Award at Cork Film Festival. Chris was named as a Screen Star of Tomorrow in 2019.

Chris is also a prolific writer and his current writing projects include an adaptation of Man Booker Prize nominated FRANKENSTEIN IN BAGHDAD; and an ecological monster film TRAWLER for Severn Screen; an original horror film for Range; an original feature for Film4 and an adaptation for BBC Film. In television, he is developing original projects with producers such as Hera Pictures and Buccaneer, as well as adapting Andrew Michael Hurley’s DEVIL’S DAY for The Ink Factory.

He is currently in pre-production on the period female-driven chase movie CAVENDISH, an “irreverent and original” thriller set against the witch hunts of 17th-century Britain. The script was developed with BBC Film, to be produced by BAFTA award winners Ivana MacKinnon & Emily Leo of Wild Swim Films, together with January Films’ Rosa Attab and Jacqueline De Croy, and Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowska and Bogna Szewczyk-Skupien from Polish production entity Madants. Sophie Thatcher, Erin Kellyman, and Joe Alwyn are attached to star.
