Hannah Reilly

Hannah Reilly is an award-winning Australian writer, director and performer known for bold, satirical work with a “fresh, female-first approach” (Elle), exploring power, performance and modern womanhood.

She is the creator, writer and co-lyricist of The Deb, commissioned through the Australian Theatre for Young People Rebel Wilson Comedy Commission, which opened to rave reviews, an extended season, and was later named by The Guardian as one of the 15 greatest Australian musicals of all time. Reilly adapted the work into a feature film, which premiered as the closing night selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, earning praise as “hysterical” (IndieWire) and “toe-tapping, dazzling, fun” (Deadline).

Her work spans stage and screen, including the ABC comedy Growing Up Gracefully (acquired internationally by Apple TV) and the Australian Writers’ Guild Award-winning series Sheilas, with critics praising her voice as “sharp, surreal satire on womanhood that Australia needs” (The Guardian).

In 2024, she was selected for a Screen Australia Enterprise placement at Invention Studios in Los Angeles, working with producer Nicholas Weinstock (Severance, Bridesmaids), and continues to develop new work under her banner, Most Improved
Productions.
