Beth Proud

Beth is a screenwriter and novelist from London, with projects in development with Lime Pictures and Studio Lambert. Beth was a creative consultant on supernatural docu-drama TRUE HAUNTING for Netflix, produced by The Conjuring director James Wan. She was selected for the BFI and ITV’s ‘Inside the Writers’ Room’ workshop, led by script editor Sarah Granville, where she generated story ideas with other writers based on a brief from the ITV commissioning team. Her projects in development include THE EX HEX, with Studio Lambert, a female led horror piece about relationships in your 20s and THE OTHER GIRL, with Lime Pictures, a life swap thriller based on the novel by Emily Barr. She previously developed an adaptation of the bestselling YA horror novel series THE SMALL SPACES QUARTET, by New York Times bestselling author Katherine Arden. Beth is currently editing her first short film which she wrote and directed, is shooting a found footage horror short later this year, and is developing several other original scripts for TV and film. Beth’s short stories have been longlisted for the BRIDPORT PRIZE and shortlisted for THE BRISTOL PRIZE.

Beth worked in nursing homes for several years and trained to be a nurse, before studying English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. She has also been a cheerleader, a bra fitter, and a sweet factory worker. Prior to working as a writer, Beth worked for a social mobility charity, which helps disadvantaged young Londoners by providing training to raise their aspirations.
