E V Crowe (Emma Crowe) is a writer for Theatre and Film, TV, Radio, Dance and song. She is a graduate of the UEA Scriptwriting Masters programme and the Royal Court Young Writers Programme Super Group. She is British, born in Germany, growing up all over the UK.
She has witten extensively for theatre, mainly at the Royal Court Theatre. Her first play KIN was nominated for the Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Awards, her second Royal Court play, HERO was part of the Olivier Award winning Season in the Theatre Upstairs. Her third play for the Royal Court THE SEWING GROUP was performed in the JTU in November 2017 and SHOE LADY was performed in the Theatre Downstairs in March 2020. In addition, she has written several smaller experimental pieces for the Court- ONE RUNS THE OTHER DOESN’T, THE UNKNOWN, SEX. She initiated the PUSSY RIOT events at the Royal Court and later adapting Maria Alikia’s book for BBC R4. Her work has been performed in China, Hong Kong, New York, Australia, Norway and across the UK.
She has also written plays for Manchester International Festival, Clean Break Theatre, Soho Theatre, Unicorn Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
For theatre, she is under commission to The Yard Theatre, London, Teater Vestland, Norway and developing a play with the support of the National Theatre Studio. She is published by Faber.
As a screenwriter, she is currently writing on the Bucanner/Paramount + The Crow Girl TV Series based on the novel by Erik Axl Sund, created by Milly Thomas. She is under commission to write original thriller feature films for Film 4/DNA, BBC Films /Wild Swim and ISB Films. She has previously written for and contributed to TV shows including GLUE (C4/Eleven, EP 5) THE CAPTURE (BBC, Writers Room), SNATCHES (BBC AMERICA).
