Michael Samuels

Director

Michael Samuels is an award-winning British television director, producer and screenwriter. He won the 2011 BAFTA Award for Best Drama Serial for four-part drama ANY HUMAN HEART (C4/Carnival) and was nominated for the 2021 BAFTA Award for Best Single Film for biographical television film THE WINDERMERE CHILDREN (BBC/Wall to Wall/Warner Bros), which also won the 2020 Prix Europa for Best European TV Movie. He won the 2018 International Emmy for Best TV Movie or Miniseries for two-part television movie MAN IN AN ORANGE SHIRT (BBC/Kudos) and the 2009 RTS Award for Best Single Drama for television movie THE CURSE OF STEPTOE (BBC). Over the course of his career, he has directed eleven feature-length television dramas for the BBC and Channel 4. Other television credits include COMA (C5/Roughcut/CBS Studios), CLOSE TO ME (C4/Nordic Entertainment Group), BLACK WORK (ITV/Mammoth Screen) and THE FEAR (C4/BBC/World), all of which he lead directed, and scenes across five episodes of THE MISSING (New Pictures/Company Pictures/Two Brothers/Playground). Most recently, he directed Mike Bullen’s single film THE TRIAL (C5/Adorable Media).
