Steve’s media career began when Elle Magazine approached him to do freelance modelling work. Steve went on to work in Australia, Korea and London for clients including Versace, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Adidas and Coca Cola. It was a natural progression to the screen as Steve’s original sense of humour and ability to get the very best out of people made him perfect presenter material.
Steve became an instantly recognisable and sought after broadcaster as one of the main presenters of the popular T4 for Channel 4. Here he kept the youth of the nation amused on Saturday and Sunday mornings for seven years, while interviewing the great and the good from the entertainment world.
Steve’s popularity and charm was recognised by other broadcasters, and he was soon approached to work on more channels. Among the many shows Steve has hosted are the BAFTA coverage for E! Entertainment, 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow and Let’s Dance for BBC One.
In 2011 Steve landed the exciting opportunity to host the US version of X Factor, giving him a great introduction to US television. He went on to guest co-host Entertainment Tonight alongside Nancy O’Dell.
Back in the UK, Steve had a great 2013 hosting the final series of BBC One’s Let’s Dance for Comic Relief and the V Festival coverage for Channel 4 as well as presenting on BBC Radio 2.
In 2014 Steve hosted the BBC Three six-part series Hair, a gripping competition that showcased young British amateur hair stylists and then went on to co-present (with Lisa Snowdon) the long running Waitrose Weekend Kitchen, a Saturday morning breakfast show for Channel 4. In 2015 he hosted E4’s edgy live dating show Young, Free & Single LIVE.
2016 saw Steve become the host of Channel 4’s Formula 1 coverage, a coveted role which he continues today. When his Formula 1 schedule allows, Steve hosts shows in various genres including two series of Animal Rescue Live and a property show, Perfect House, Secret Location for Channel 4.
Steve’s debut novel, Call Time, was published by Penguin in May 2023.
