Lisa Gunning is an English film director, editor and writer. Her successful career as an editor began in 1998 after a chance meeting with Anthony Minghella on a commercial project, which ended up sparking a long-running partnership. After working on some musical sequences for ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’, her first feature was Minghella’s ‘Breaking & Entering’.She went on to work with John Madden on crime thriller ‘Killshot’, ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ for Lasse Hallstrolm and ‘Seven Psychopaths’ for Martin McDonagh. Gunning also collaborated extensively with artist and filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson and edited Palm D’or winning short ‘Love you more’, BAFTA winning ‘Nowhere Boy’ and ’50 Shades of Grey’.

In 2014, she wrote, directed and edited a multi award winning 30 minute film for Goldfrapp based on five stories from their album ‘Tales of Us’. The film was streamed to over 400 cinemas across the world.  Gunning has since helmed numerous award winning commercials for brands like Amazon, Subaru, Honda, OnStar, Barclays, American Airlines, HP, Kaiser Permanente, Pacifico, Corona, Mini, Google and Ford.

In April 2021 she directed Ep5 of ‘The Power’, an Amazon series based on the best selling book by Naomi Alderman, produced by Sister Pictures (Chernobyl, Giri/Haji) which will be released in late 2022.
