Writer

Zara is an Australian-Scottish screenwriter and actress who has developed projects with The Forge, RubyRock Pictures, Clipper Media Capital and Moonage Pictures. Her varied slate of current projects in development include HER HORROR, a 6×60’ feminist horror anthology with RubyRock Pictures, Clipper Media Capital, distributed by Wild Bunch TV; the 8×60’ television adaptation of New York Times Bestselling novelist CJ Tudor’s THE TAKING OF ANNIE THORNE for Imaginarium; LIT BY THE MOON, an 8×30” LA-based dark comedy-drama television series with Remi Nicole Wilson and Kirsty Williams at Insanity Group in the US.

In features Zara is developing EFA, a Welsh psychological horror feature film with Farrena Films; METEOR, a fantasy coming-of-age feature film in development with rising star director Isabel Sieb (VIGIL, THE ATHENA, SHETLANDS); and in short films BREAKER with director Sammy Patterson (currently in post production); THE DARK FIGURE, a short virtual reality film with director Gabi Carpenter and produced by Richard Nockles (Surround Vision, VR and 360º specialist) and Pauline Blanchet the script of which was officially selected at Barcelona Film Festival 2019; and KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE, a short film in development with producer Jessie Mangum (Goalpost Pictures) which Zara will also direct. Zara has also written one woman play COLD POLISH, a play about identity and the feminine mask that she will debut and perform at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2020.

Zara has worked extensively with NBCUniversal on their Syfy Channel projects CORONER S1 (Muse Entertainment and CBC), THE OUTPOST S1 & S2 (Electric Entertainment and The CW), SPIDES S1 (Palatin Media, TXing in 2020) and VAGRANT QUEEN S1 (Blue Ice Pictures, TXing in 2021), and has worked as a script consultant on the Venice Berlinale nominated multi-narrative VR series ELEVEN ELEVEN for NBCUniversal and Digital Domain. Her two hour-long episodes of the Big Finish radio drama DARK SHADOWS: THE TONY AND CASSANDRA MYSTERIES are currently available on Audible.
